In September Tribo Rail UK Ltd took part in a Market Visit to the Trako Rail fair in Gdansk, Poland.
The visit, arranged by Department for International Trade in conjunction with the Midlands Engine initiative was held over 2 days, the main focus was to link the 7 delegate companies with potential new customers and markets in Poland and the CEN (Central European Network). The morning of Day 1 consisted of a visit to the head offices and maintenance depot of GAIT (Gdanskie Autobusy i Tramwaje) who operate 231 coaches and 124 tram sets in the Gdansk area. In the afternoon the delegation attended a seminar where presentations where received on the following subjects:

On day 2 all delegates attended the Trako Rail fair held at the AMBEREXPO Exhibition & Convention Centre, Gdańsk where many local and international companies associated with the rail transport industry were exhibiting. The Trako Fair is Europe’s second-biggest railway show in terms of size and importance.
TRAKO is a meeting place for rail and tram businesses: organisers and operators, technology providers, manufacturers, distributors, central and local authorities, experts, engineers, investors and railway enthusiasts. It is also a platform for discussion, exchange of information and a search for innovative solutions in infrastructure, the transport management system and rolling stock equipment technology. Govia Thameslink Railway tender for brake pad supply awarded to Tribo Rail
The Govia Thameslink Railway tender for supply of brake pads used on Class 171, 442 and 455 fleets operated by Southern Railway was awarded to Tribo Rail in August 2016.
Tribo Rail is now IRIS registered
Tribo Rail announce that they are now IRIS registered, and are currently working towards accreditation by this premier international quality auditing organisation for railway suppliers.
Tribo Rail have been awarded a contract to supply spare parts for vehicles maintained by Bombardier Transportation
Bombardier Transportation and Tribo Rail have worked closely together, and following an extensive testing regime the contract was won by demonstrating a significant improvement to the environmental and life cycle costs of maintaining the vehicles.

In the summer of 2013, a new R&D house was added to the resources of Tribo Rail. This facility houses a new Dynamometer and additional test machines, capable of simulating axle loads from trams and metros right through to high speed applications which will enable Tribo Rail to continue development of new materials for the friction market.

The Southern Railway tender, for the supply of brake pads used on class 171 and class 455 vehicles, was awarded to Tribo Rail in November 2013. The supply contract lasts until the end of the current Franchise.
In September 2013 the new R&D facility was opened at the Tribo and Tribo Rail site in Ukraine.
The facility is equipped with a small scale production process, physical testing machines and a state of the art dynamometer capable of simulating axle loads from light commercial vehicles right through to high speed train applications. The red tape was cut by representatives of the Tribo management, the local Mayor and members of the Ukrainian government.
